Just to get the ball rolling on these new forums, what do you think the state of RP is in VG? Have you found any? Have you found a good RP guild? Have you found a community of RPers on your server? What would you like to see on your server in terms of RP events/open RP?
Discuss!

Well I'm going to be seriously watching to see what people post here. I'm an avid RPer and I beta'd Vanguard but didn't purchase the game when it went live, wanting to wait till it was polished and had more time to get tidied up. I think that time has come. I started the Free Trial thing and I've decided to stay.
I rolled a character on Serandon (sp?) with my RP partner and hoping to see if there is an RP community to be had.
While we wait, he and I are pro-active RPers, will be RPing in /say (well except for the stuff that shouldn't be Rp'ed in say *shifts eyes*) because I think that's very important in supporting RP, to open our character's mouths and RP face to face an not keep it hidden away in chat channels.
Anyway...really hoping to see people post and what kind of reports there are for the state of RP in this game.

What is your character's name on Seradon? Is it Jaxriel? I need to start adding identified role-players to my friend list, as I am having a hard time finding role-play outside of my guild. The world is so huge, so figure if I can get a list of names, I can not-so-randomly bump into other role-players for more spontaneous role-play.

I am definitely interested in being a part of more role-playing as my character has reached 50 and I think it could definitely add a little bit of depth to the experience considering the derth of content in the game.
Have never truly RP'd in an MMO and am a little hesitant, but am willing to give it a try because I do have something of a background developed for my character. I am also on Seradon.

Yes, my character is Jaxriel and I will be posting a bio soon. I have been trying the trial, and decided to start subscription. I'm ready to jump in with both feet and my character has started a journal which I will start posting on here on this board.
Good to find other Rpers about. ;D

Having moved my guild from Everquest (1) to VG back in Open Beta, my only choice for a home was the RP server. Sadly, with Florendyl being no more there were initial concerns that the RP community would be destroyed in the merge, but I do believe that the community is still there. Most of the RP that I do involves my guild family...but as often as I can I will attempt to engage folks in RP conversations when buffing them. The Preferiti have had a very, very successful server event that we held on 8/31 and are planning another for 12/6, even though these events are not called RP events, due to concern that we might turn away those not completely comfortable with RP, we do engage as much as we can so that folks can see that there is nothing to fear from RP! From my experience, many of the folks who have expressed hesitancy regarding RP are those who are afraid that they are going to be criticized for "doing it wrong"... So in continuing to engage all that we can, even if it is "drive by" or "ninja buffing" RP opportunities, it will open the community up and, in my opinion, foster an environment where folks will test the waters of RP and will very likely find that it embellishes their game play.

What was the event and what is the one that is coming up, if I may ask. Also, I agree that many are intimidated from participating in role-play. That is a shame, because in truth most role-players are just happy to find another person that is making an effort to role-play at all.

The events are called Pay It Forward. Our last efforts were targeted at new players, therefore we crafted adventuring gear, invis slates, arrows, weapons, bags, etc for passing out. (Capping off level required items at lvl 10, so only Tier 1) Due to the efforts of my guild, of whom I am very proud, and some very kind folks on Seradon, we ended up giving out a little over 400 items and a tad over 1p in Trivia for Gold that we did in our chat channel that we set up. The December 6th event will be targeting T2 (levels 11-20) for all spheres! We will have more bags, and adventuring items as before, the majority of which have been and will be crafted by our family, but we will also be giving out diplomacy and crafting items. I will post more information here, and on the official forums, when we get closer to a count of what we will have.

By the way...I have rolled a crafting alt but will be RPing her as the same as Jaxriel, Jaxriell (two L's on the end). My RP partner, Mugura and I have alternate versions of our characters (his alternate is Mugurai) for us to craft and do things when the other is not one so that we keep our mains going only while the other is on to keep our questing in the same spot together. We Rp in say too, so feel free to talk to any of the four characters we are running between the two of us.

Hello all. I just registered here and wanted to say first, what a great idea! Now, as to the state of RP... As far as I am concerned, it is alive and well, merely hidden a little too much in private channels, guild rp channels and the like. Don't get me wrong, these are a great method of giving people the chance to rp. I just wish I could see more open rp. We of Cabal meet in the Tradewind every Thursday night, for open rp and all are welcome, RPers and non alike. With the new Isle of Dawn trial, we are seeing alot of new people and alot of returning people, and I think rp will only get better and better.

I wish the rp was more visible and we could identify each other. Tags please, SOE. Since the merge, it's seems the rp has went underground and kept in-house with guilds. The raiders came and conquered. Kinda like the Viking invasions.

Just need to find the right guild And with this website now existing to try to "ressurect" the public appearance of the roleplay community so to speak, I think RPers might see a second wind, if we all pitch in
